In this online class, I will show you how to paint cat portraits with Procreate 5X. I’m a cat girl, so I used cats in class, but this works the same for dogs or other furry pets.
Cat portraits with Procreate class is available on Skillshare, and you can get a two weeks free access if you’re not already a member with this link.
First, we will practice painting fur with the brushes provided in the resource section. These are native brushes that I tweaked a bit so it’s easier to paint fur with them.
I enclose a practice sheet as well.
Then we will select a photo to work from. You can use you own cat or dog, of course!
Then I’ll explain a first method on this portrait
And a second method on this one
At the end of Cat portraits with Procreate class you’ll be able to paint any furry pet portrait you fancy, and this is as well a good introduction to human portraits!
What students say about the class:
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. I’m a traditional artist who specialise in dog and human paintings. I’m starting to produce more work using digital media (Procreate, Photoshop and iPad) and so I decided to try this class, even though it’s a how to paint a cat, class, it’s so much more than that and what I’ve learned can translate to any animal and human too I’m sure. The practice part at the beginning would have been enough to get me going and the rest was just icing on the cake. I can’t recommend this highly enough. The teacher has a fantastic teaching manner and is clearly a very skilled artist. Take this class.
